GREAT SOUTHERN MUSIC FIXES GUITARS FAST AND KEEPS MUSICIANS STAGE-READY.
With 50+ years of experience working on Fender, Gibson, Taylor, Martin, Gretsch and more, Justin Perry’s family-run shop guarantees satisfaction with clear communication, expert craftsmanship, and integrity that keeps your music alive.
Justin Perry was born into the Great Southern Music legacy — and destined to make noise.
After college, he jumped into the family shop, sharpening his skills under Houston’s hot sun. But he wanted more. So he headed to the Martin Guitar Factory, where he leveled up under the best in the business. Still, the stage kept calling.
In the early 2000s, Justin answered — joining punk rock fireballs The A.K.A.s and tearing through thousands of gigs across the globe. Powered by Ampeg, Vans, D’Addario, and Orange Amps, the band inked deals with Fueled by Ramen and Metropolis Records and hit NYC with producer Alex Newport to capture their sound.
Justin toured alongside heavyweights like Fall Out Boy, The Offspring, My Chemical Romance, and pre-Skrillex From First to Last — living the road warrior life, recording records, and thriving in the chaos.
Kevin Perry has been Houston’s go-to guitar guru since 1975.
His journey started in ’73 with an apprenticeship under Chip Todd, where he quickly became the trusted tech for players from Brook Mays to Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top. As his skills grew, so did his reputation — working with legends like Jimmy Page, Glen Campbell, and Johnny Lee while perfecting setups for players at every level.
By ’75, Kevin launched his own shop and earned the nickname “The Guitar Doctor,” fixing, customizing, and restoring instruments for Houston’s tight-knit music community and touring pros alike. Along the way, he built lasting connections with players like Clint Black — even crafting the artist’s custom “Great Southern Guitar.”
Today, with 50+ years of expertise and a legacy that bridges icons and everyday players, Kevin remains the heart of Great Southern Music. Still hands-on and trusted by generations, he continues to keep Houston’s musicians perfectly dialed in.
