Great Southern Music is family owned and operated. We opened our doors in 1975 as "Kevin Perry's Guitar Repair". Since then we have grown into a full service music store dedicated to serving the needs of musicians from Bach to Rock!

Our first location was a small shop in Bellaire, Texas. In 1977 Kevin moved the repair shop to Westbury Square in the Westbury area of Houston. It was there that we expanded into retail sales, offering a small selection of guitars. By 1980 we had outgrown the Westbury location so we moved to Westheimer in Southwest Houston and changed our name to Great Southern Music. A few years later we moved to Dairy Ashford where we remained for nine years.

In 1994 we relocated to the Copperfield area. Our store was located in the Copperfield Crossing Shopping Center on FM 529 for 5 years. In August of 1999 we expanded the size of our store and added six additional teaching studios. We moved to our present location in the Hearthstone Shopping Center on Hwy 6 North, where we continue to add new product lines and services. Here we will continue to carry on the tradition of providing the very best personalized service possible. We are very proud of the fact that many of our customers from our original location are still doing business with us today!
